Project Life 2012: June part 1

I will be linking up with The Mom Creative for Project Life Tuesday, as always. If you've hopped here from there, a big welcome; and if you haven't visited yet, drop by for inspiration and lots of fun stuff.
The beginning of June was all about the Jubilee, celebrating 60 years since Queen Elizabeth II became our Queen. I'm not a huge royalist, but I do admire the work ethic of someone who has been carrying out her job for 60 years, and who, at 86, still spends whole days devoted to service. To never have a moment to yourself, when everyone is looking at you, to not have freedom to walk to the local shop without bodyguards and security; well her life may be pampered, but it's not easy. The woman literally lives for her country.

At any rate, it's a great reason to party! And party the UK did. There were lots of officially organised events, including the grand parade through London, the Thames Pageant where boats and crafts of all kinds sailed down the Thames, passing by Her Majesty the Queen who acknowledged them all, and the amazing concert outside Buckingham palace with a celebrity line up with artists representing every era of the Queen's reign.

Many people across the UK also organised events in their town, including lots of street parties and informal get togethers with a Jubilee theme.

This unique weekend was one worth commemorating, so my layout is all about that (oh with one quick pic of my very own Princess!)

Next post will see return to normal non-Jubilee service! In the meantime, hope all is well with you, wherever you are!

  1. Great week Jules, it looks fabulous, I really wish I had been in the UK for the celebrations. I think Australia should be a republic but I do love the Queen and admire her a lot. You captured the feel of the week well. It was a big deal here too - lots of TV coverage. Hope you are well. xo

  3. Love your week, I think I might be a bigger royalist and I'm in the States :) I watched a ton of shows on BBC America and reread some of my British monarch bios in honor of the occassion. My husband thought it was way weird. Love seeing all the details.

Think how fun that will be in 10-20 years from now to look back and say you were there for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. ♥ your pages as usual! :)

  7. Hi Jules, thanks so much foor the loviest comment on my PL, always great to hear from you, love that you celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee, when l saw your pages l thought l should have added something in mine, l think its important to add bits of our history, l just love doing history stuff, looking at old buildings and their designs, the signwriting, the family tree searches and l suppose thats why l love PL so much, because like you we don't have scrapbooks or family Bibles , we have a few passed down stories, and it was the stories that l wanted about their day to day lives when l was doing the family tree, so l just figure if l do PL then lm passing down my history and life to th e next generation and they will have the stories, and about those books, they really are a must read, so positive and inspiring, l hope you get to read them, big hugs back to you, have a great week.......kate
